What I'd really prefer is not having to be a pawn like this. [Dryly; but he knows that's not the point.] But personally--yes, I would've rather preemptively taken out someone who could've become a true threat later on down the line over a victim of circumstance. It would've been the smarter thing to do, even though that would've landed me on the chopping block as well.
[Does Childe just think he would simply survive an execution? Maybe so]
Well, Scaramouche is from my home. I don't know him--[A pause, and he amends--]--well. Supposedly we knew each other, but I don't remember him. But I can extrapolate enough about him to know how dangerous he could be. [Itto is also from his canon but honestly he doesn't even feel the need to say that because we all know Itto has zero braincells whatsoever.] For anyone else--combat ability would factor in to an extent, but mental fortitude and willingness take priority.
[There's also the "I don't like you" factor but he doesn't mention that one]
Do you mean that you think he's still a danger here, where we're all lacking whatever powers we might normally have? [ he's so tiny. ] Or that he'd be one to your home world if he were to make it back?
[He tilts his head, looking like he's considering that.]
It depends, really. I mean, you've seen what he's like--but a significant lack of power would make anyone more cautious. [So if Scaramouche hasn't killed them for being so annoying yet then he probably won't? Probably. He grins a little.] And he hates trials, so I doubt he'd subject himself to one without good reason. As for back home--we're... colleagues, in a sense. It's a bit complicated to explain.
It doesn't matter much here. Our collective goal is something very specific to our home world, and I'd imagine our agendas completely diverge apart from that. That's the way of all Harbingers, myself included.

[ there's just a little bit more of a bite to that than there usually is to his words. ]
...Well, I respect the pragmatic approach. Though I do wonder what criteria you would use to judge a person's prospective threat level.
