Hey. Lavi told me a little bit about what happened.
He mentioned it, but he didn't go into detail. [He was busy having emotions, unlike sweet Four, who honestly got the best part of this whole thing which is just truly. So funny.] It sounded like you were sent on an old mission of mine, but he said Teucer was there, too.
[ four reaped and she sowed, but by reaping, she came out more mentally sound that she's been her entire life. it really is so funny. simply write all your pain away.
she nods. ]
He was. The you there was a bit stressed by his sudden appearance.
[Yeah! That was Scaramouche's logic and it worked out pretty well for him (did it) so clearly this is the correct path
He laughs quietly, though.]
Yes, I was. That happened after the Liyue mission was over--he snuck onto a ship from my motherland and sailed all the way over to find me. A friend of mine found him wandering some ruins by himself.
After I parted with Lavi? It was somewhere dark, with a lot of stone walls and broken chains. I came across some... obnoxious figure who said he'd offer me power, if I entertained him enough.
[ there is the smallest drip of disdain that slips through her muted emotions. that's how much vitriol she has for the abyss herald. ]
I left him because there was nothing to trust about him.
[Black and blue--well, that could be a lot of people. A mask, or headgear? That, too, could mean just about anything. But she mimics the shape, mentions tall, and a dark place, with stone walls and broken chains--
Oh.
Childe's silent for a long moment, expression impassive. When he speaks again, his voice is... even, but lacking any humor from a moment ago.
His brow furrows a little, but he doesn't seem all that surprised.]
Mm, I heard about the tree. It's... [He's quiet for a second.] In this case, I'd say it's probably not connected. It seems like whatever happened drew from my memories, and Scaramouche's, and then used yours against you. [The general "you," he means, not just Four.] I'm not sure what Irminsul--that is, the tree had to do with it, though. Typically it's just a record. I don't even know if it's capable of speech or sentience.
Lavi told me during that they used his memories against him in his last one and all the familiar people I saw weren't likely to be real there, so it was easier for me to walk away from them.
[ these aren't lies. it's not the whole truth, but there isn't a lie in this. it is easier to get the truth out of her in this state, though, since she's as detached as she is going to be about it. ]
It manifested its sentience as a book, if that was supposed to the way it records. However it was or wasn't connected, it seemed to have some kind of effect.
[ uriel and lavi came out super angry while four and chandra were less so. she can tell something is wrong. she simply can't feel strongly about it. ]
He mentioned something similar to me too. [Childe wouldn't know himself, as his adventures have only ever been short and limited.] I've never heard of Irminsul manifesting as a book, though. It's a tree.
[It doesn't really surprise him to hear that effects have happened, though--he saw Harrow and her memory struggles, but also, fucking around with even a fake Irminsul is probably not something you can get away with unscathed.]

Was it a mix of your memories?
[ switches between 3 icons because those are the only neutral, not about to lose it icons i have ]
no subject
It sounds like it. Though Lavi mentioned that it drew from his memories, too.
no subject
If that's the case, it's a bit different from what I saw.

Did he have a name?
no subject
If he wanted to look intimidating, he should invest in a new outfit and use his real voice.
no subject
What did he look like?

[ she mimics the shape with her hands. ]
He was quite tall.

Oh.

A little more quietly:]
...What else did you see?
no subject
Eto was there for some reason with... a kind of wolf, I think. [ .... ] I also saw my sister.
[ a beat. ]
Later, there was a tree, but I don't know if that was connected to the dark place. You'd know more than I would.

[ how convenient that she doesn't remember the one about herself. ]
I don't know how much importance they held.

[Sometimes... you have swords for brains and you don't understand your own symbolism.]
What were the other books about?
no subject
There was one about a goddess who reigned over a nation, who envied other nations that had no gods.
There was another book about a boy named Ajax, who wanted to be an adventurer, but he fell.
no subject
But, ah. He's quiet, still--once again, his face is unreadable, almost eerily blank.]
And you saw those... in that dark place?
no subject
They were in the building we had to infiltrate to find the Sigils. The dark place came after. At least for me.
