[LISTEN they would brawl eternally if it was up to Childe but unfortunately they're both nerfed and it loses its charm after a while (pensive)
Also just, bluntly--]
I'm trying to figure out if it's worth making a deal with you.
[Because Childe only knows what he's seen and what Scaramouche has told him--but that's probably more than anyone else here knows about him, especially on top of his inherent understanding of what it means to be a Harbinger... but what he does know means that Scaramouche could very easily be a LYING LIAR who would not bother keeping up his end of a deal if he didn't want to... DILEMMA.]
Lavi mentioned something to me that might interest you, about that island of theirs--though you might already know it, seeing as how he's been sending so many messages. [Which is part of his hesitation; it's not much of a deal if the only thing he has is information Scaramouche has too.] But if I tell you, I have no guarantee you'd share anything important in return.
[:\ :/ :\ Does he want to share for free... not really... even if they're theoretically on the same side, Harbingers are never really on anyone's side but their own!!]
[THE WAY HE SAYS IT SO LIKE "lmao. lol." truly a little shit. He's on his own side but he's also not hesitant to engage in what he views as fair and equal trade of information, so long as it doesn't get in his way.]
If it's something that simple, I can go first. I'll tell you now that that idiot hasn't sent me anything useful. Just keeps telling me to come kill him myself.
[LAVI!!!!!! Also that's not quite right but listen it's close enough in his mind.]
[HMMMM... he drums his fingers on his thigh, contemplative--but he supposes there's a nonzero chance Lavi will announce this to the world eventually, so he might as well lay it out while it's still his card to play.]
It seems like they've got their abilities back, over there.
[HE IS TRYING VERY HARD TO BE NORMAL ABOUT THIS WHEN HE IMMEDIATELY THINKS ABOUT HIS BROKE-Y GNOCCI. What the fuck why does the other side sound so much better except for the part where there are so many more PEOPLE THERE. Disgostin.]
...Hm. He really is a fool, then.
[Imagine telling Scaramouche to come stab you knowing that he'd be regaining his abilities (Lavi doesn't know what he can do) imagine-]
Let's see, then... [What can he give in exchange. HM. He glances upward, pondering what he's learned from their personal demons since his messages from the dead have been fucking useless.]
...Well, I'd imagine you speak with Bloody Mary as often as I do, so this might not be news to you. But apparently this is one of many afterlives, and there's no guarantee you'll end up here or anywhere at all the next time you die, if you make it out in the first place.
[YEAH SEE. SEE!!! Scaramouche might be poker facing at him but Childe's not an idiot; he knows exactly what this means, just as he figures Scaramouche probably knows what it means for him. This is why he didn't wanna give it out for free!!!
He seems a little surprised that Scaramouche actually does provide something in return--but then again, if Scaramouche was a Harbinger for any true length of time, Childe supposes he shouldn't be surprised that he doesn't want any sort of outstanding debts. (This is not Scaramouche's concern at all)
He's certainly not going to complain, though.]
Huh... interesting. [This is news, apparently! So it counts for their trade.] Did they mention why we ended up in this one?
[Apart from deserving punishment or w/e which makes sense for two Harbingers but like Filbo is here]
[HONESTLY FAIR. IT'S VALUABLE INFORMATION especially for Childe "let me fight every god because death makes me live" Childeson and Scara "let me become god so I can crush the other gods" Moose. He doesn't say anything about their mutual Being Normalness about this information, though he does roll his eyes at the mild surprise. He's a transactional god!! He's always balancing his ledgers!! He's more fair than the other gods (when he wants to be).
There's also a little bit of a sour look there, and he raises his hands like "girl you got me".]
To be perfectly frank, I don't think any of them have a real clue, either. Guesses, yes, but an actual idea? None that I can see.
[Hell's system of organization goes above and beyond what any non-Satan brain can comprehend... or something, maybe.]
[Do you think about how they're truly the worst representatives for Genshin. I do.]
They sound like even more of a mess than we are. [Listen he's a proud Harbinger but he's also the one out here like this could've been an email] I'm really starting to think the only reason this boss of theirs won't show his face is because he knows we could defeat him.
I can't figure out how to track him down, though. I figure they must have some other way of getting around, since we can't just take the ferries wherever we want, but I don't know what it is.
They can probably just fly, you know. Or teleport. Something like that. We're the only ones in this place that are dealing with the barest bones, right now.
[He's so mad that they've been quarantined in gay baby jail with no powers.]
[STOP!!! He's trying to believe there's a way, okay, he doesn't want to sit around on his ass waiting for this damn party.]
...That does make me wonder why they've got their abilities over there, though. [The dead, he means; he can understand why they aren't allowed to have powers, but like. What's the point of giving them back to the dead? Consolation prize for losing their chance at resurrection??]
But that's a good question, and he looks like he's giving it some genuine thought.]
My guess is because that's the "normal" state of most people here. We're likely the exceptions because we're newly arrived or whatever. They keep referring to this as a period of quarantining or babysitting, so once we "graduate" then I guess we're just treated as any other part of the populace.
[Watch him be totally wrong. watch my dangan ronpa theory be right]
Hmmm. But they've still been here just as long as us, no? [It's not like Bucky magically gained 20 years of hell experience by dying? Probably?? Who knows.]
...Maybe they assume that the ones who die here will give up on their chance at returning to life, so it doesn't matter what they have access to. [Which seems like an oversight?? But he's not exactly going to complain if it gives him a leg up.]
It's possible. Also equally possible that if there really is no other way back once you cross over to that side, there's no point in making sure we don't try anything.
[It does seem like an oversight but also he's not in the business of underestimating Powerful Entities, except for when he does.]
We could ask Bloody Mary. It'd probably net a decent answer.
[Childe can acknowledge the power of their hellish overlords while also knowing that he will simply continue searching for a way out until he's like mega-dead and simply cannot try anymore. Sometimes you are just too used to surviving things you shouldn't.]
[IT IS THE LORD RULER OF ALL HELL APPARENTLY gods do often underestimate everyone below them and also sometimes those above them. Sasuga, creatures of immense(???) power(?????)
Watch Satan truly be just some guy. BUT he just nods at the last bit.]

Hah. That depends on what sort of deal you want to make.
[This has truly just been The Week Of Scaramouche Making Deals. Satan's going to get jealous at this rate, damn.]
