[WELL THAT SURE WAS HELLISH. It's too bad Zelgadis's sword wasn't the murder weapon or else Childe would've had an excuse to keep it longer
Whenever they cross paths, he'll give Mr. Rockman a little nod in greeting.]
I'd say that counted as misery and damnation. [He sounds tired but kind of amused, in that way where a situation is so garbage you can really only laugh about it.]
[If today is any indication they should probably just go straight for the booze at 9am tbh.
But he perks up at that! And nods.]
You could say that, yes. Not that it matters here, since the exercise room doesn't have any sparring equipment, but it was nice to hear about everyone's preferences anyway. [He doesn't even pretend like he volunteered for Hunter's sake]
[Yes, but Childe isn't going to get into that with a stranger, so he goes for the broader definition instead.]
I'm not sure. They're not given personally--they just kind of... appear. [Some people are on the verge of death and others are! not!] It's different for everyone.
[Hey Childe, checking out one of the new places? So is Zel. Very cool that they're in the same place at the same time, just in time to get dumped in a memory-hole.
a memory starts playing on the screen immediately.]
MEMORY: THE RED PRIEST'S BLESSING
It's now or never.
Shortly after nightfall, you enter the room in the church where your captive hangs bound. In a swift motion, you slash at the ropes with your sword. You toss the sorceress her things, and remove her gag. She tries to ask why you're doing this, but there's no time to explain. You tell her to follow, and the two of you flee the church in the moonlight, running into the woods.
Then... you stop.
Something crimson emerges from the darkness to block the forest path. You mutter under your breath, "Rezo."
"What exactly do you think you're doing, Zelgadis?" the red priest asks. "You've followed orders admirably up until now... but this? This is an act of treason."
"Then I am a traitor!" you yell in desperation. "I cannot do this anymore!"
"Oh, is that so?" Rezo asks quietly. "I'm very sorry to hear that. You're turning against me, then? Have you forgotten that I made you? I blessed you with your power..."
"Blessed me?" you interject. "I will admit, Lord Rezo, that I wanted power. But I never asked to become a chimera! I never wanted... this!"
"One has to be willing to make sacrifices. And I gave you what you asked for, in the most direct way possible. If you had something else in mind, you ought to have specified. In any case, I won't tolerate impudence. This ends here."
You grunt, then move suddenly, circling behind the girl and grabbing hold.
"Wh-- hey-- watch what you're grabbing there!" she shrieks. As she protests, you move forward together.
Rezo grins, amused. "Do you intend to use that girl as a shield? Fool, do you presume I have guilt about going through her to get to you?"
"No, I don't!" Your voice quivers, and you compensate by shouting even louder. "Using the girl as a shield won't help me, which is why I'm not making her my shield..."
You raise her body high in the air.
I'm making her my arrow!
You launch the girl at Rezo the same way one would hurl a ball in shot put.
