Yes, I'm well aware how people can be. [Which is what he'd said as much to Harrow--that he knew his throwaway vote wouldn't matter.] If Lavi had had true malicious intent, it would be a different story. [Not that he super cares about justice either, but, y'know.] But the system we're in was created for the entertainment of those in control over us, so I have no reason to play by their rules if I don't want to.
What I'd really prefer is not having to be a pawn like this. [Dryly; but he knows that's not the point.] But personally--yes, I would've rather preemptively taken out someone who could've become a true threat later on down the line over a victim of circumstance. It would've been the smarter thing to do, even though that would've landed me on the chopping block as well.
[Does Childe just think he would simply survive an execution? Maybe so]
Well, Scaramouche is from my home. I don't know him--[A pause, and he amends--]--well. Supposedly we knew each other, but I don't remember him. But I can extrapolate enough about him to know how dangerous he could be. [Itto is also from his canon but honestly he doesn't even feel the need to say that because we all know Itto has zero braincells whatsoever.] For anyone else--combat ability would factor in to an extent, but mental fortitude and willingness take priority.
[There's also the "I don't like you" factor but he doesn't mention that one]
Do you mean that you think he's still a danger here, where we're all lacking whatever powers we might normally have? [ he's so tiny. ] Or that he'd be one to your home world if he were to make it back?
[He tilts his head, looking like he's considering that.]
It depends, really. I mean, you've seen what he's like--but a significant lack of power would make anyone more cautious. [So if Scaramouche hasn't killed them for being so annoying yet then he probably won't? Probably. He grins a little.] And he hates trials, so I doubt he'd subject himself to one without good reason. As for back home--we're... colleagues, in a sense. It's a bit complicated to explain.
It doesn't matter much here. Our collective goal is something very specific to our home world, and I'd imagine our agendas completely diverge apart from that. That's the way of all Harbingers, myself included.
[HELLO GOOD SIR here they are, just minding their own business... I think it's funnier if they keep getting smacked into memory holes so that's what happens. As for the memory that pops up...
((There is a battle between 2:01 and 2:06, as you can see! If you want to see what Childe's Transformed attacks would've looked like, see here (Phase 3 only, since Phases 1 and 2 occurred before the start of these cutscenes.)
ALSO x2--the English translation of these lines is off; for an updated version you can read the whole thing here, but most notably, instead of:
"I absolutely detest working with those weaker than I. The truth is, the world belongs to those of us who desire to become strong. I seldom willingly mingle with any dull and boring weaklings who think otherwise."
He says: "I had hoped it would never come to this, for the weak will be swept away in the process. The truth is, the world belongs to those who pursue strength. I seldom willingly involve myself with the weak."))
[HELP... for once Childe looks irritated, though it's directed at the screen, not Mephisto.]
This place... [REALLY DOES LIKE JUST SPILLING HIS DEETS, DOESN'T IT. GOD!!! He sighs--but, well. It's not like he can just take it back, and he's not annoyed enough to murder Mephisto about it. Probably. "pixi it's already Wednesday" probably] That whole mission was a bit of a special case. I don't like scheming and plotting.
I much prefer to face my opponents on the battlefield, but even I know that doesn't work for every scenario. [More's the pity...] I respect Her Majesty enough to carry out her will in line with her wishes, even if her orders aren't to my tastes.
week 2, saturday
But Childe is here in the void, just wandering. He nods in greeting, though he doesn't say anything in particular when they run into each other.]

For what it's worth, I thought your theories were reasonable. Everyone just wanted a villain they could easily pin the blame on.

...Well, I respect the pragmatic approach. Though I do wonder what criteria you would use to judge a person's prospective threat level.

Well. This is. This is a lot. (Through roughly 5:23!)

So this was on behalf of that organization of yours, right? It's a shame I know so little about your world, this all sounds very interesting!
...And I have to say, even with your profile already spoiling a few things, you've really got the disarming charm thing down.
